White stork chicks successfully adopted in Dumbrăvioara!
The previous days, due to bad weather, several stork chicks fell from the nest in Mureș county, which were subsequently rescued by the “Milvus Group”. During the annual stork ringing session in Dumbrăvioara, the four healthy chicks (originating from Brâncovenești and Mătrici villages, Mureș county) were placed in four different nests, where the nestlings were successfully adopted by their new families.

Dear stork friends!
We received some questions that need some answers. At this point we do not know why but the Dumbrăvioara storks do not have a very favourable year. Of the usual 12 – 13 pairs, only 10 are breeding, one of which have no chickens, four nests have only two chicks, three nests have three chicks and two nests have four chicks.
Both the number of nesting pairs and the number of chicks are below last year’s average. (more…)
The Chituc Ringing Camp continues in 2015
In 2014, the “Milvus Group” Bird and Nature Protection Association organized a ringing camp on the Chituc Sandbank, during which 12877 birds, belonging to 100 species were captured and marked. We wish to continue the ringing in this year also, and we are counting once again on the help of enthusiast ringers and volunteers. (more…)

Conservation of the Lesser Spotted Eagle in Romania among the first 17 projects of 2014 European Commission LIFE program
From all the LIFE projects finished in 2014, only 17 were selected as the Best LIFE-Nature projects, and two of them are from Romania.
Congratulations to the Ursuslife project, selected among the 5 best projects!

The birds tagged with satellite transmitters in Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, and Romania spent the winter in Angola, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. At some points all of the tagged seven birds stayed in a 200-kiometre-diameter circle in Botswana, and then they spread out to an area of about 1.000.000 square kilometers (approximately four times larger territory than Romania).
