The story of an imperial eagle

We were moved by the story of this Eastern imperial eagle and decided to share it with you. It is important to know that this is an extremely rare bird, with an estimated population of only 5 pairs in Romania.

The eagle was found injured in Arad county and was transported to Vets4Wild veterinary clinic on 24 January. The condition of the bird was not the best. This spectacular bird of pray had a broken wing, and in these types of injuries the recovery is uncertain.

After two difficult surgeries, adequate food, and persistent care from caregivers and doctors, the bird was moved to a larger aviary at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Sânsimion (Mureș County), where the eagle was able to exercise flying again.

And guess what? To our delight, the recovery is going well and we hope that she will be released as soon as possible.

We would like to thank Irinel Oberșan, the ranger of the Mures-Artes Nature Park, who found the bird, Vet Point Vest vet Levente Sólyom, who was the first to examine the eagle and transport it to Târgu Mures, and Vets4Wild vet Levente Borka, who treated the eagle and followed it throughout its recovery.

The rehabilitation of this fine specimen was a joint effort of professionals, but we couldn’t have done it without the sponsors who supported our work, and without you who redirected 3.5% of your income tax. So, a big thank you to you all.
