The story of a poisoned White-tailed Eagle
At noon on a Thursday in February, the musician Andrei Dinescu was walking on the banks of Danube near Cetate in Southern Romania when he came across a huge raptor. The beautiful bird was alive but helpless, visibly suffering cramps and spasms in her gut. As he got closer, the bird stood still, breathing deeply and looking straight at him. Realising the bird needed help, Andrei phoned Ferenc Zudor from Cetate Cultural Port, a cultural centre where Andrei lives. Ferenc came quickly and, together, they took her to the Cetate Cultural Port. After searching on the internet, they found the Romanian Ornithological Society (ROS), based in Bucahrest, to whom they sent pictures of the injured bird. (more…)

Arlie the Lesser Spotted Eagle begins his spring migration northwards
Arlie, the adult Lesser Spotted Eagle whose movements the Conservation of the Lesser Spotted Eagle LIFE project team have been tracking by satellite transmitter since last year, has started his spring migration northwards. The satellite information, charted using the Argos System, shows that between 8 and 11 am on the 14th February, he started flying North East from Namibia. By the 17th, he had travelled 650km, bringing him near the border of Zambia.

Midwinter Waterbird Census – 2014
This year “Milvus Group” Bird and Nature Protection Association, together with the Romanian Ornithological Society (SOR) organized again the annual census of wintering waterfowl (Midwinter Waterbird Census) in Romania. The main period of observations was between the 10th and 31st of January, but because it coincided with another, broader survey organized this winter, the last observation day was 4th of February. The International Waterbird Census (IWC) is coordinated by Wetlands International and it is organized every year in most countries of the world. (more…)
Video: Hidden cameras capture the diversity Romanian wetland wildlife
As part of the national Eurasian Beaver, European Otter and European Mink survey project („Elaborarea seturilor de măsuri de management, la nivel național, pentru speciile Castor fiber, Lutra lutra și Mustela lutreola”) camera traps were placed to riverbanks to observe moments from otters life and observe their behaviour on different rivers in the country.
A camera trap is remotely activated camera which enables to make pictures of animals in wild.
Analysing the images besides otter many other species can be found in the videos. We selected a few from the most interesting videos:

“Milvus” Nature Photography exhibition
From 16 countries 631 works of 98 photographers were sent to the 5th International “Milvus” Nature Photography Contest. From these photos 48 were selected and exposed on the 16th of November 2013 in the History and Archaeology Museum (inside the Medieval Fortress), Tîrgu Mureș.
The following persons delivered speech at the opening: Soós Zoltán director of Mureș County Museum, Papp Tamás president of Milvus Group, Papp Judith contest organizer and Tamás András president of jury. Nagy Zoltán Gergely from Târgu Mureș Milvus won the grand prize, the Milvus Trophy.
