Last week, on the 13th June, the young finalists from the “I also take part in Natura 2000” contest were invited on a one day excursion up in the Bucegi Mountains. Drawn from years II-V, a total of 27 pupils were accompanied by six teachers and four members of the Milvus staff up the mountain, travelling from Bușteni by telecabine up to the Babele and Sfinx peaks (2216m). Accompanied by guides of Bucegi National Park, they descended down to 1400m by foot, admiring the surrounding landscape on the way.
In November 2012, Milvus Group launched the “I also take part in Natura 2000” contest, for which more than 500 pupils registered. A total of 309 pupils from 16 school succeeded in finishing the first two stages of the contest. Pupils from schools in the Natura 2000 protected area of Hârtibaciu, Târnava Mare, had to solve two complex tests with questions about protected species from their locality, concepts of nature conservation, local traditions, folk customs, agricultural methods for nature conservation and Natura 2000.
Between 16-21 july, 2012 Milvus Group organized an interesting camp for pupils from the Hârtibaciu – Târnava Mare – Olt area in the frame of the project entitled “For nature and local communities – the bases for a Natura 2000 integrated management in Hârtibaciu – Târnava Mare area”. The participants have been chosen from different localities on the strength of a previous test. A total of 27 children from 3 counties (Mureș, Sibiu, Brașov) had the opportunity to participate in the camp organized at the Cabana Trei Stejari pension, near Jibert (Brașov). The children were accommodated in tents and yurts. The aim of this camp was to bring attention on the importance of nature protection. (more…)
