Short description of the methodology

No special ornithological knowledge or equipment is required to participate in the monitoring programme, so anyone can volunteer to join the survey. We welcome bird lovers from all over the country who would like to survey long-eared owl wintering sites near their homes and count the number of owls present, once a year, preferably through several years. If you would like to participate please contact the programme coordinator.

Settlements or parts of towns (neighborhoods) are proposed by the participants and approved with the programme coordinator. The information collected will be recorded using a form available in the OpenBioMaps phone application, as in our other monitoring programmes.

A detailed description of the method can be found here (in Romanian).

In this table, each volunteer can keep track of when a full visit is needed in the municipality of his/her choice (see details in the methodological description).
