The Eastern Imperial Eagle has suffered a significant decline worldwide and is included on Romanianian Red List as a „critically endangered” species. Around the 1970s the has disappeared completely from Romania and it took 50 years to return as breeding species in our country.
Recently our colleagues visited the three eagle nests in Arad county, the only ones we know about in the country. During the nest controll they found that one of these nests had deteriorated during the winter. In order to facilitate nesting, the decision was taken to strengthen the nest. To do this, a metal frame to increase its stability was placed as a support over which branches were placed.
As the eagles can use the same nest for many consecutive years, we hope that by strengthening it we will increase the nesting success.
