Splashes of colour in a true winter landscape with snow up to knees and an almost totally frozen river. However, the annual monitoring of Dippers in Deda-Toplița gorge was, as always, a pleasant winter day spent in nature. Of the 18 participants, eight were volunteers participating for the first time on the event. The four groups of observers counted the birds in 5 hours on river portions averaging 11 km. What did we observe? 170 White-throated Dippers, a Peregrine Falcon, Rock Buntings, 7 species of Tits, White-backed Woodpecker, Nutcrackers, Fieldfares, Bullfinches, Siskins and a few water birds along the almost completely frozen river.

We thank the volunteers for their implication!

See you next year, on 24th January, hope to see more and more volunteers!
