What better way to start the school year than with a trip. Green Week was an ideal opportunity to bring the future architects and artists of the Târgu Mures Art Lyceum closer to nature.
We gathered in the courtyard of our Rehabilitation Centre in Sânsimion (Mureș County) and to start with, the students visited the a traditional old house in the courtyard of our centre and learned how our ancestors lived and how they carried out their daily tasks without electricity and gas.
The students were given an insight into the work of the Rehabilitation Centre, which opened in 2012, and then visited the “patients” who are undergoing rehabilitation: three White stork wintering with us, a curious Little owl, a Western marsh harrier awaiting release and a Common kestrel.
From the Sentsimon centre we set off to the protected area near the neighbouring village of Rigmani, the old site of our forest school. The weather was sunny and our trip was full of exciting moments. We met a deer, discovered different animal tracks along the way and admired the harbingers of autumn: the eye-catching autumn crocuses. Singing, we made our way through the forest and arrived at the wooded pasture of Rigmány, the second stop on our excursion.
Several birds flew into the ornithological net set up on site, so the students had the chance to take a closer look at two Blue tits, two Great tits and a noisy Eurasian jay and followed the ringing process from checking the nets, taking the measurements, the actual ringing of the birds and the release.
Dont’t forget, you can find all the informations on our webpaga about all the activities we organise.
