Most people associate birdwatching with early morning hikes and the cheerful birdsong at dawn. However, there’s a lesser-known but equally exciting form: night-time birdwatching. The sounds of the night can offer new experiences and surprising discoveries for those interested in nature.

Naturally, one of the basic requirements is the ability to identify birds by their calls, as during night observations we primarily rely on our hearing. If you can recognize species by their songs, join our long-running monitoring program of night birds in open habitats.

You can find a detailed description of the program, running from May 20 to June 10, and the participation requirements here. By taking part, you’ll help us learn more about the population trends of nocturnal bird species.
