Seven Spur-thighed Tortoise (Testudo graeca), one Hermann’s Tortoise (Testudo hermanni) and a European Pond Turtle (Emys orbicularis) have entered in the last six months in the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre of the Milvus Group Association and Vets4Wild. These turtles will be released into their natural habitats as soon as they recover from hibernation. Although all three species are protected by law, and capturing and possessing them is considered illegal, every year hundreds of turtles are sold especially on the online market. Turtles come to change their bored owners too often, sometimes they escape or get seized by the authorities until the information regarding their geographic origin is lost, this situation makes their release much more complicated. We thank for the cooperation to the Brașov Zoo, Jibou Botanical Garden and the Babeș-Bolyai University’s Vivarium, to the competent authority, but also to our friends Ana Maria Benedek, Ioan Sârbu, Călin Hodor, Alexandra Mihuț and lots of others for their help.
