Volunteering is an activity from which all parties benefit. Volunteers gain experience, develop new skills, and discover different perspectives on the world, while the organisation – in our case, the Milvus Group – receives real support in achieving its goals.

Luna, Diego, and Laura came from Spain, from the Foramontanos Secondary School, where they are training to become higher technicians specialised in environmental education and control. Ines arrived from Germany, from Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg, where she is attending a master’s programme.

The four young people arrived at the beginning of April for an Erasmus+ internship and got to work straight away.

Their involvement was total – they enthusiastically joined in all of our activities:

  • At both locations of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre – in Târgu Mureș and Sânsimion – they cleaned the aviaries and helped with various maintenance tasks;
  • They climbed the Făgăraș Mountains to monitor Golden eagle nests;
  • They installed 100 new nest boxes for the European roller, in Bihor and Arad counties;
  • They cleaned 70 nests and installed another 30 artificial nest boxes for Red-footed falcons.

The volunteers worked with dedication and great energy, making a significant contribution to the achievement of our goals this spring.

For us, it was a real pleasure to have them with us, but what did they say about this experience?
