We are preparing for our 11th consecutive year at the Chituc Ringing Camp. 2023 was a year far beyond our expectations: we worked with 180 volunteers and ringed 23 000 birds, two of which belonged to species not yet ringed in Romania.
You can read more about these and other interesting results in our latest camp report (in Romanian language).
Last year we also made a short video (subtitled in Romanian), so you can see our work at Chituc ringing camp.
We are planning on continuing this year’s ringing activity for 15 weeks between July 21 and November 2. As in previous years, the permit issued by the Administration of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve has issued a permit for teams limited to 17 people. While for some weeks the list of participants is full, for others we still need help to keep the camp running smoothly.
Want to join the camp? Write an email to our colleague responsible for organizing the ringing camp, Attila Marton (attila.marton@milvus.ro).
Thank you to those who have helped and continue to help fund the work at our ringing camp. The largest recurring costs are the ongoing replacement of ornithological nets and the purchase of bird rings. We have already raised the funds needed to run the 2024 camp, but we want to prepare in time for the 2025 net and ring orders and other unforeseen costs.
If you like what we do and think it’s important for us to continue long term, you can contribute to the camp here.
