Because we know how much you love storks, we thought we’d introduce you to a stork that turned 21 this year and returns to the same nest year after year.

Let’s start at the beginning. Twenty-one years ago, a colleague of ours ringed a nestling in Andrid, Satu Mare county (the village was awarded with the title of European Stork Village in 1997). Since then, this stork has returned to Romania every year to start a family. Each spring the male takes over the nest he has built in Tarcea, Bihor county. This year was no different, the male, together with his pair, started to arrange the nest to provide a comfortable home for their offsprings.

This makes him the oldest ringed stork in Romania.
