In recent decades, one of the biggest problems we encounter in nature is the habitat loss. The transformations that take place (many due to human activities) make these habitats become unfavourable for some species that live there, some of them being endangered. It is therefore a great need to restore these habitats, even though they wore restored to their previous state.
Such habitats rehabilitations can be easily achieved mainly in the plains flood zones (former arable land), places from which gravel was taken out. These places are very easily converted to wetlands, ideal for certain amphibians and fish species. We have visited such a place on the Târnava Mică zone along with student form the Sîngeorgiu de Pădure High school. These meadow habitat restoration is a major priority because their number fell dramatically in past decades.
