This is the busiest time of year for the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. The emergency phone rings almost non-stop, and the aviaries are nearly always full of baby birds who need constant care and feeding to grow strong enough to begin an independent life in the wild.
Sadly, not every patient survives. Some arrive in a condition too poor to be saved. Others, however, recover and grow remarkably quickly — within just a few days, they stretch their wings and are soon ready to be released.
That was the case with the Common kestrel and the four Little owls that came to us from Arad and Mureș counties. They took flight without any problems.
Currently, we are caring for a young Eurasian jay who was caught by a dog, but is recovering well, a young White stork that has undergone surgery on one of its legs, and a Yellow-legged gull chick that still needs some time to grow.
