It all started in her childhood when she rescued a kitten and cared for it in secret. It was the first animal Ana-Daniela Ciocan cared for. Growing up in the countryside, her love for animals came naturally and marked her whole life.
Then came the college years, a veterinary technician course, a job in a veterinary practice and the opportunity to care for wild animals. The first patient was a Blackbird, then a Domestic pigeon, a couple of White storks, a Little owl, an Eurasian scops owl and so on. She has since taken care of hundreds of injured wild birds. Ana is the oldest volunteer at our association’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and confesses that she is still affected by difficult cases, but is delighted at even the smallest signs of improvement in the condition of her “patients”.
Ana not only assists with cases at the center but also joins our colleagues in the field for various monitoring programs. Remarkably, almost every time she returns, she brings back an animal in need of care and love. Her most recent rescue was an abandoned puppy just a few days old.
P.S. The first cat Ana rescued was named Pitica. Although many years have passed since then, she still lives happily in the countryside.
