The ‘Milvus’ International Nature Photography Competition is back for the 17th edition. We are delighted to announce that you can submit your nature photographs until 20 March.
As in previous years, entries can be submitted in four categories:
- Nature (Category A): photographs featuring wild plants or fungi, including close-ups and macro images, as well as landscapes and natural details;
- Wildlife (Category B): focused on wild animals photographed in their natural habitat, including portraits, close-ups or macro images, as well as scenes illustrating behaviour or natural environment;
- Nature of Romania (Category C): exclusively for images covering the same subjects as above, but taken in Romania;
- Junior (Category D): dedicated exclusively to photographers under the age of 16.
The entry fee for Categories A, B and C is €20, while registration for Category D (Junior) is free of charge.
After the submission period ends, the public will be able to vote for their favourite photograph in May, and the winners will also be announced during the same month.

By entering the competition, you have the chance to gain recognition from a professional jury, showcase your talent, and present your vision to a wide audience passionate about nature and photography. It is an excellent opportunity to stand out, connect with fellow photographers, and contribute, through powerful images, to the promotion and protection of nature.
Moreover, your photographs can be rewarded with valuable prizes, including:
- Grand Prize – the Milvus Trophy, €1,000, and a 4-day guided photo tour in the Danube Delta (Ultima Frontieră, Periprava), for two people, offered by Rewilding Romania;
- Prizes for Categories A, B and C:
1st place – Certificate of Merit and €400;
2nd place – Certificate of Merit and €300;
3rd place – Certificate of Merit and the photographic album ‘Wild Romania’ by Dan Dinu - Junior Prize – Certificate of Merit and a package containing the albums ‘Harghita Magică’ by Potozky László and ‘Vâlcea Naturală’ by Daniel Mîrlea;
- Public Award – Certificate of Merit and a Milvus gift package;
- Impact Award (NEW!!) – a special prize awarded by the jury to the photograph conveying the strongest message related to nature conservation – Certificate of Merit and a Milvus gift package;
