You can’t imagine how easy it is to help nature. Take a walk outdoors and record all the bird species you see or hear – this helps us gain a clear picture of bird populations. By knowing the size of the populations, we can compare them with previous years to see which species are increasing or declining, and based on this information we can support vulnerable species.
We invite you to choose a route you like this weekend and create a list of all the species you see or hear. We explained how to make a complete list in a previous guide.
If you haven’t downloaded the OpenBirdMaps (OBM) app yet, where you can record your observations, take this step and join over 500 members who help us collect information. Here you can find all the details about our app.
OpenBirdMaps, the database supported by the Milvus Group, which collects information on bird distribution in Romania and is dedicated to providing access to these data for non-commercial purposes, joined the EuroBirdPortal initiative in 2017. This means that all the data you collect will be added to the European database, which combines the data of 81 partner institutions from 29 countries across Europe.
