Perseverance pays off. It’s not the first time we’ve used this phrase, but the increasing number of Saker falcon (Falco cherrug) pairs nesting in western Romania once again proves that conservation measures are effective in strengthening the population.

Mátyás Prommer, along with Milvus Group experts Zsolt Hegyeli and Attila Nagy, analysed the species’ population trends between 2016 and 2023 in their study titled “Population growth and the influence of spatial factors on the occurrence and breeding success of the Saker Falcon (Falco cherrug)”.

The article was published in the scientific journal of the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society, Ornis Hungarica, and can be found here.
