For our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, the beginning of 2025 brought four injured Ural owls, which arrived at our center from various parts of the country.

The first patient of this species was found not far from Târgu Mureș with a wing injury. A few days later, we were contacted from Cluj-Napoca, where veterinarian Manases Sándor – to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks for his involvement – examined another Ural owl, which was transferred to our center.

Fate was not as kind to another owl that came all the way from Vadu Crișului in Bihor County. Despite the dedication of the person who found it, the generosity of the driver who brought it, and the professionalism of veterinarian Borka-Vitális Levente, the bird, which had multiple wing fractures, did not survive the surgery.

Finally, we come to the fourth Ural owl, found in Fântânele (Mureș County), which, after being freed from the frozen mud that hindered its flight, was prepared to return to its natural habitat.
