The weather was on our side for the first activity organised as part of the “Family Days in Nature with Milvus Group” project, funded by the community through the Donors’ Circle hosted by the Mureș Community Foundation.
Although the morning rain gave us a bit of a scare, the families who signed up for the “Birdsong Walk” were not discouraged by a few raindrops and came prepared with umbrellas. To our delight, the rain stopped shortly after we set off in search of birds in the Weekend Complex, and we were enjoyed numerous species serenading us with their songs.

While the adults strolled around and listened to the sounds of great tits, fieldfares, blackbirds and swallows, the children learned about common bird species they can observe, their calls, and the types of nests they build.

This was only the first event in the “Family Days in Nature with the Milvus Group” series. We look forward to meeting the people of Târgu Mureș again for a hands-on session on making artificial nests, a workshop on proper bird feeding techniques during winter, and an excursion which will include a bird ringing session.
