Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time can truly be life-changing. This was exactly the case for two birds. Our colleague, Attila, was near Salonta (Bihor County), accompanying a team from Oradea who were filming a report on the local Great bustard habitat. During the walk, he noticed a Rough-legged buzzard showing clear signs of poisoning. Just a few metres away, a Common buzzard was lying with similar symptoms.
Our colleague immediately took the birds to the MatVet Veterinary Clinic in Salonta, where they received urgent care. The swift intervention saved their lives, as many poisoned birds sadly do not survive before receiving help.

Once their condition was stabilised, the birds were taken to Oradea by the film crew, to our volunteer Ana, who has been caring for injured birds for many years. Fortunately, within a few days, they had recovered enough to be safely released back into the wild.
We are deeply grateful to MatVet Veterinary Clinic for their quick and effective intervention, to dr. Borka Levente, to Nikolett and Dániel for safely transporting the birds to Oradea, and to our volunteer Ana for her tireless care. Together, two birds were given a new chance at life.
