Children’s excitement when they see a bird up close for the first time is truly priceless. Recently, the children from Licurici Kindergarten took part in a bird ringing activity organised right next to our feeder.
The preschoolers had the chance to get to know several bird species captured by our team. The Great tit, Blue tit, Greenfinch and Brambling were at the centre of the children’s attention. They learned interesting facts about these species and about what bird ringing actually means.
As expected, the highlight for them was the moment when they were able to gently touch the birds and, one by one, the bravest children released a bird back into the wild.
We have prepared a short video which we hope captures these emotional moments in the lives of the children who took part.
Bird ringing activities are part of our environmental education programme and offer an excellent opportunity to familiarise young children with the world of birds, to stimulate their curiosity about nature, and to nurture respect for the natural environment.
