bird_numbers_logo_00The next EBCC conference will take place in September  2013, in Cluj, Romania. It gives us a great pleasure to invite you to attend the 19th conference of the European Bird Census Council, organised jointly by Babes-Bolyai University, Romanian Ornithological Society (BirdLife Romania) and Milvus Group – Bird and Nature Protection Association. EBCC conferences are held every three years, bringing together people involved in bird monitoring, research and conservation across Europe and beyond. Topics are varied, ranging from the results of new common bird monitoring programmes, waterbird monitoring and atlases, studies of causes of population change, demography or distribution in European birds, studies of the effectiveness of conservation action and the impact of government policies, new technologies, methods or analytical techniques, the use of birds as indicators, and the development of citizen science projects. The conference will be held in Cluj, one of the largest cities in Romania and capital of Transylvania, the historical region of the country surrounded by the Carpathians. The city can be easily reached by direct flights from several European countries, but also by car and by train. The conference venue is a recently built campus offering lecture halls, accommodation and meals in the same place. Mid-conference excursions are planned to various locations in the region. We look forward to welcoming you in Cluj. For more information: http://www.ebcc2013.ro/
