The first ringed Golden Eagle chick

On the 9th of June 2006 the members of the Raptor Conservation Working Group ringed a Golden Eagle chick in a nest in the Turzii Gorge (Cluj County). The Gorge is a historical breeding place for this species. In all of the last three years this pair raised 2 chicks. This year, probably the smallest chick was killed by his elder brother (the phenomenon is cainism). The event is a premier for Romania, because nobody has ringed before a Golden Eagle chick in nest.
