The arrival of spring marks an important period in the life of birds: nesting. With the change of season, the main focus of ecological education activities is on the life of birds during the period when they build their nests and prepare to start a family. \n<\/p>

For many children, nesting is not an unfamiliar concept, as they closely follow our cameras broadcasting live from two stork nests in Dumbr\u0103vioara (Mure\u0219 County). Thanks to these broadcasts, to our surprised, the children already know a lot about storks: their migration to Africa, their return to the country, and the places they prefer to build their nests. \n<\/p>

Building on this prior knowledge, we also introduce them to different types of nests and the species that build them. In this way, during a single environmental education session, the children learn about the characteristics of several common species, such as the blackbird, the tit, or the woodpecker, as well as how each builds its own nest or sometimes uses the nests of other species, how they raise their chicks, and how the parents share the responsibilities between them. \n<\/p>

By learning how birds raise their young, children develop empathy and responsibility towards the environment.
