We invite you to join us on a nature adventure! <\/span>On 24 January<\/strong>, we will head to riverbanks to count dippers!<\/span><\/p>

This is the 12th consecutive year of running the White-throated dipper Monitoring Programme<\/strong>. This species breeds along fast-flowing mountain rivers, while in winter it moves to the foothills or large gorges, where temperatures are a few degrees higher and the water rarely freezes completely. These conditions make counting easier and allow us to assess possible fluctuations in the breeding population.<\/span><\/p>

The Milvus Group<\/strong> organises dipper monitoring at two locations (the Mure\u0219<\/a> and <\/span>Cri\u0219ul Repede<\/span><\/a> rivers), where we survey longer river sections. In addition, smaller teams will also visit riverbanks at several other locations across the country.<\/span><\/p>

Join one of the teams or suggest new river sections where you would like to count dippers.
