After focusing our efforts on the conservation of the European roller in the inaugural year of the programme, next year will be dedicated to the conservation of the <strong>Eastern imperial eagle<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-1-Foto_Nagy-Attila-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-50111\" srcset=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-1-Foto_Nagy-Attila-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-1-Foto_Nagy-Attila-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-1-Foto_Nagy-Attila-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-1-Foto_Nagy-Attila-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-1-Foto_Nagy-Attila.jpg 1450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the discovery of the first Eastern imperial eagle nest by ornithologists from the Milvus Group in <strong>2016<\/strong>, in <strong>2024<\/strong> we managed to locate a record number of nine territories in western Romania where the species\u2019 presence was confirmed. That year, three pairs successfully bred, resulting in at least four fledglings.<\/span><\/p><p>Despite this encouraging result, in 2025 we identified only the three pairs that had nested the previous year, without obtaining conclusive data on their breeding success.&#13;\n<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why the Eastern imperial eagle?<\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This species is listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List as <strong>\u201cVulnerable\u201d<\/strong> and is considered <strong>\u201cCritically Endangered\u201d<\/strong> in Romania.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to carry out effective conservation activities, it is essential to first have a clear picture of the eagle population in Romania. This requires <strong>field assessments<\/strong>: intensive searches to identify breeding pairs, locating potential nests, and monitoring nesting activity.<\/span><\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-2-Foto_Nagy-Attila-1024x682.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-2-Foto_Nagy-Attila-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-50114\" srcset=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-2-Foto_Nagy-Attila-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-2-Foto_Nagy-Attila-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-2-Foto_Nagy-Attila-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-2-Foto_Nagy-Attila-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Acvila-de-camp-Parlagi-sas-2-Foto_Nagy-Attila.jpg 1325w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After completing these steps, we will be able to install, where appropriate, <strong>artificial nests<\/strong> and <strong>monitoring cameras<\/strong> to observe the breeding process more closely and obtain valuable footage of the eagles\u2019 life.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, in the year dedicated to the Eastern imperial eagle, we also aim to <strong>plant trees<\/strong>, as one of the reasons the species has become critically endangered is the disappearance of solitary trees and lines of old trees in quiet areas, free from human activities\u2014exactly the places that once provided suitable nesting conditions.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Nature counts on us \u2013 and we count on you too!
