The CREA+BIRD international project<\/strong> is a forward-looking initiative that provides teachers with innovative and creative methods for environmental education.<\/span><\/p>

A recent meeting<\/strong> brought together teachers, ecological education specialists, and researchers from the participating countries (Romania, Finland, Slovenia, and Italy) to present the educational tools developed by each team.<\/span><\/p>

Learning about aquatic habitats<\/b><\/h2>

The module proposed by the Milvus Group<\/strong> is based on four activities, each lasting one and a half hours. The main theme of the activities is the aquatic habitat, explored through the lens of biodiversity and the ecosystem services it provides. The four activities are linked to the four seasons.<\/span><\/p>

The first activity<\/strong>, focused on autumn<\/strong>, has already been developed and tested both in kindergarten and with students in grades VI and VII. The activity included, among other things, mapping nearby wetlands: the Mure\u0219 River for kindergarten children and the Niraj River for older students. The children learned about the role of running waters, the fauna of aquatic habitats, and how to use blank maps for orientation.<\/span><\/p>

Water samples were also analysed to determine pH and ammonia levels. Students were introduced to bird species living in aquatic habitats, with a focus on the grey heron. The module is designed to include activities adapted to different age groups: students in grades V\u2013VIII learn about the heron through teamwork, while younger children explore the same theme through colouring and play. \n<\/p>

The remaining activities will be developed and tested in schools and kindergartens, as the module must be finalised and implemented by September 2026<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>
