{"id":48726,"date":"2025-08-22T13:18:18","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T10:18:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/five-rehabilitated-storks-have-set-off-for-africa\/"},"modified":"2025-08-22T14:37:49","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T11:37:49","slug":"five-rehabilitated-storks-have-set-off-for-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/en\/five-rehabilitated-storks-have-set-off-for-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Five rehabilitated storks have set off for Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As every summer, the aviaries of the <a href=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/en\/wildlife-rehabilitation-centre\/\"><strong>Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre for Injured Animals<\/strong><\/a> are filled with young storks that have faced various difficulties and needed our intervention.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Three siblings<\/strong>, who had not yet learned to fly, <strong>were left without parents<\/strong> after the pair perished from electrocution. The chicks, coming from a nest in D\u0103t\u0103\u0219eni (Mure\u0219 County), grew under our care and were ready to test their wings in freedom. Alongside them was <strong>another young bird, ringed in Germany<\/strong>, and <strong>one that reached us via the Vets4Wild Veterinary Clinic.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>On a hill near the town of S\u00e2ngeorgiu de Mure\u0219, the five were released. The German-ringed stork did not hesitate long and immediately took to the skies, already having experience in flight. The youngster brought from the veterinary clinic gave us a few anxious moments, but after several minutes it spread its wings and flew over the area.<\/p><p>The three siblings stayed close to one another. The eldest tested its wings and then perched on a medium-voltage electricity pole, which, fortunately, was insulated.
