Looking back, he recalls a friend&#8217;s words: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEndre, we\u2019re finally at a conference where no one\u2019s talking about how much they make per case \u2013 we\u2019re among vets with childlike hearts, proud to help and save lives.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p><div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay3-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48472\" srcset=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay3-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay3-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay3-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay3-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay3-600x800.jpg 600w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay3-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure><\/div><p>For Endre, this vocation came naturally. He knew from childhood that he wanted to become a vet. With the support of his parents and grandparents, he began helping injured wild animals from an early age. Later, when he was invited to join our network of like-minded vets committed to giving wild animals a second chance at freedom, everything fell into place \u2013 it felt like a natural extension of his childhood dream.&#13;\n&#13;\n<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay1-768x1024.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay1-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay1-600x800.jpg 600w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div><p>Since then, he\u2019s treated mostly injured birds, but also small mammals, hedgehogs, deer, foxes. Many cases left a mark, but one stands out: a mother hedgehog killed by a dog, leaving five little ones behind. &#13;\n<\/p><p><em>\u201cWe took them in and started caring for them at the clinic. As they grew, colleagues and family gave them names. The real success, for me, was when months later they wandered off on their own. It happened years ago, but even today, when I see a hedgehog wandering through the neighbourhood on a rainy night, I dare to hope it\u2019s one of mine \u2013 or one of their descendants.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 he remembers.<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay4-1024x768.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay4-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48469\" srcset=\"https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay4-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay4-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay4-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay4-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/milvus.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Dombay4.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div><p>Endre admits that there are many tragic cases, often caused by well-meaning people who take bird chicks or deer fawns that don\u2019t actually need rescuing. Sadly, many such situations end badly \u2013 outcomes that could be avoided if people sought proper guidance first.&#13;\n<\/p><p>Of course, there are also funny moments. In one case, a lady contacted him about a stork that had been standing in front of a block of flats in Bra\u0219ov for three days, refusing to fly away.&#13;\n<\/p><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt felt kind of weird (\u2026), but since my intervention was needed I rushed to help. The woman said the bird was in a small green patch behind the building. I walked around, and there it was \u2013 a plastic garden stork. Turns out she couldn\u2019t see well, and the neighbours had just added the statue to brighten up the courtyard.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p><p>While that stork didn\u2019t need rescuing, dozens of real birds did \u2013 and now soar freely thanks to Dombay Endre and the many vets who do this work out of passion and compassion.&#13;\n<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We take this opportunity
