\u00a0At this time of year, more and more people find chicks fallen from their nests and try to help them, but sometimes well-intentioned actions can do more harm than good. In most cases, chicks found on the ground are not abandoned<\/strong>!<\/p>

It is recommended to observe them from a distance,<\/strong> as often the parents will come back to feed them. This way, we can be sure the chicks are in good hands and there is no need for our intervention.<\/p>

Also, keep in mind that such a chick needs to be fed every 30 minutes <\/strong>with species-specific food. It is demanding work that requires knowledge and resources. We ourselves do not always have the capacity to care for chicks that need constant attention.<\/p>

Therefore, before deciding what to do with the chick, contact a specialist or call the Rehabilitation Centre<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>

We would like to share two cases with you. In the first, a family found barn owl chicks<\/strong> in their yard that appeared to have been abandoned by their parents. After seeking advice from a specialist, the family decided not to interfere and only observe the chicks from a distance. They soon noticed that the parents returned each night to feed their young. To the family’s delight, the chicks are already learning how to fly.<\/p>

Another case involved a house martin chick<\/strong> that was still learning to fly and landed on a balcony of a block of flats in Oradea. After the owners failed to feed it, the chick was taken to one of our volunteers. She regularly fed it mealworms until it started eating on its own and eventually took flight. <\/p>
