For this purpose, <strong>we are looking for<\/strong> enthusiastic <strong>volunteers<\/strong> and good connoisseurs of common bird species, who are willing to get involved in collecting data from the field. Photo: Attila Nagy<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What participation involves:<\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The city area is divided into <strong>500 x 500 square metres<\/strong>, which observers will walk through entirely, <strong>twice per season<\/strong>, during the early morning hours, to collect data on the presence of bird species. All individuals of all species identified both visually and by sound will be recorded as you move through the square. You will need to allocate one hour for each square.<\/span><\/p><p>Each observer can choose their square(s) depending on their location and which area is most accessible for them.&#13;\n<\/p><p>Since we aim to cover as much of the city area as possible, it would be ideal \u2013 though not compulsory \u2013 for each observer to survey as many squares as possible.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>two field visits<\/strong> must take place during the following periods:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#13;\n<\/span><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>10 April \u2013 15 May<\/strong> for the first visit (to observe territorial behaviours of species already nesting);<\/span><\/li>\n\n<li><strong>16 May \u2013 15 June for the second visit.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Observations begin at sunrise and continue until 10:00 a.m.<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data will be uploaded using the <strong>OpenBioMaps data forms app<\/strong> (on Android) \/ OpenBioMaps (on iOS), via a dedicated form you\u2019ll receive access to later.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Important<\/strong>: The iPhone app is still in testing and sometimes doesn\u2019t work properly. If possible, we recommend using an Android device.
