July is a crucial month for stork chicks. It’s when they test their wings and learn their flying techniques under the watchful eyes of adults. That’s why in July, the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center’s emergency hotline is busy with bird lovers reporting stork chicks that have fallen out of their nests, been hit by cars, weakened or even electrocuted. So, during this period, the center’s aviaries are full storks in need of our intervention. \n<\/p>

Among our patients were three chicks that arrived from the village of Dr\u0103goteni, Bihor County. Unluckily for the three of them, their nest caught fire after a heavy storm and fell down the pole. The birds ended up with our volunteer, who was contacted by the firefighters, and soon after the tree were enjoying the company of the other storks recovering in our aviaries in T\u00e2rgu Mure\u0219. <\/span><\/p>

Fortunately this story had a happy ending: we released the chicks, who can continue to exercise their flying in the wild, before setting off on their first journey to Africa. \n<\/p>
