11 November was the day when the Romanian Ornithological Society<\/strong> and the Milvus Group<\/strong> organised the 14th Annual Monitoring Meeting. After a break of two years, this event was reorganized in the presence of specialists from all over the country.\u00a0 The amphitheatre in the building in Mik\u00f3-garden of the Babe\u0219-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca was filled with bird lovers curious about the monitoring programmes being carried out in Romania.<\/p>

Traditionally, the conference series started with a presentation of the Common Bird Monitoring Programme. The programme coordinator, Cristi Dom\u0219a<\/strong>, briefly presented the main milestones of the programme from 2006 to the present, and then described in more detail the results of this year’s monitoring.<\/p>

In addition to birds, other taxonomic groups monitoring projects were also presented, targeting butterflies, praying mantises and meadow vipers.<\/p>

Members of the Milvus Group gave several presentations. Papp Edg\u00e1r <\/strong>presented the synchronous monitoring of the Red-footed Falcon and monitoring of nocturnal species, Szab\u00f3 D. Zolt\u00e1n<\/strong> talked about the study of songbirds in the F\u0103g\u0103ra\u0219 Mountains and the importance of citizen science <\/em>projects, Sos Tibor <\/strong>presented the recently started monitoring of the meadow viper, Marton Attila<\/strong> presented the main results of the ringing camp on the Chituc Spit. The last speaker was Dar\u00f3czi J. Szil\u00e1rd<\/strong>, who reviewed the rare species encountered in the last couple of years.\u00a0<\/p>
