For this reason, large areas are only covered in years when we receive dedicated funding under a national program. This year we managed to do this monitoring program, started 10 years ago. As in previous years, the weather did not make it easy for those who helped us with this survey, but our volunteers still managed to cover more squares than last year.

It is very important for this programme to repeat countings in the same quadrats every year, as this allows us to accurately track population changes. This year, data was collected from 21 quadrats, covering 37 species. The participants surveyed a total of 232 points (a 10×10 km survey square has at least 10 observation points), of which only 44 were completely silent. The most common species of birds this year were Eurasian Scops Owl (155 observations), Common Nightingale (123 observations) and Little Owl (50 observations).

Thanks to the contribution of the observers and the volunteers who helped them: Alina Ioniță, Andreea Cîrlig, Bărbos Lőrinc, Ana-Daniela Ciocan, Mircea Brăban, Ciprian Fântână, Cristi Domșa, Dani Drăgan, Daróczi J.
