In the past four years of ringing on Chituc Spit 47740 individuals of 132 species were caught, the most abundant species being: Red-Breasted Flycatcher (Ficedula parva<\/em>, 5502 individuals), Robin (Erithacus rubecula<\/em>, 5321 individuals), Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus<\/em>, 3495 individuals), Red-backed Shrike (Lanius collurio<\/em>, 3316 individuals) and Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus<\/em>, 3093 individuals). With the 9340 ringed birds in 1996 and 1997, the first two years of the camp, the total number of ringed birds rises to a total of 57080.<\/p>

In the six years, the ringing camp had two national and seven international recaptures, and three individuals bearing foreign rings were recaptured. The ringing camp contributed with six new additions to the avifaunistic list of Romania, namely: Pallas\u2019s Leaf Warbler (Phylloscopus proregulus<\/em>) and Greenish Warbler (Phylloscopus trochiloides<\/em>) in 1996, Desert Warbler (Sylvia nana<\/em>) in 2017, Green Warbler (Phylloscopus nitidus<\/em>) and Rustic Bunting (Emberiza rustica<\/em>) in 2016 and Red-flaked Bluetail (Tarsiger cyanurus<\/em>) in 2017.<\/p>

The camp will start on the 9th of July and will end after 17 weeks of intensive ringing. Those wishing to volunteer in the camp are asked to contact our colleague, Attila Marton at attila.marton@milvus.ro. The number of participants is limited.<\/p>
