An  injured adult Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo) – which was found near Avrig (Sibiu County) – was transported by members of the Milvus Group to Tg.-Mureș on August 21st. The bird showed an open fracture on the wing (ulna) with infected wound. Two days later the bird was submitted for medical intervention in Tg.-Mureș, and the successful surgery was carried out by Dr. Borka Levente. At the present the wing is immobilized and the bird will receive antibiotic therapy for ten days. The recovery period it is estimated to be approximately five weeks during which the healing will be closely monitored. After this period we will do flying exercises for the bird, and finally if there are no complications it will be released in October. We want to thank Dr. Dan Ionescu, Dr. Déri János, Dorin Berghia and Mihai Bucșa for their help.
