On the 3rd of January 2008 near Sângeorgiu de Mureș(Mureș County) the local gamekeeper Pál Tamás with his colleague detected poachers, who were catching songbirds using viscous sticks. After the gamekeeper controlled them, he found 6 Goldfinches (Carduelis carduelis), 4 Linnets (Carduelis cannabina) and 1 Bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula). All 11 songbirds and also 10 small sized cages were confiscated. After the bird’s condition was controlled by Daróczi J. Sz., all birds were ringed and released successfully. It is worthy to mention the approach of certain gamekeepers implicated in activities which helps the diminution of delinquency against small songbirds and their illegal trade.
