Invertebrates

 

Main Goal

Studies about invertebrate populations and protection of endangered invertebrates.

Objectives

  • faunistical and ecological studies of invertebrate population;
  • evaluation of invertebrate population of National Parks;
  • to set up a complex database and to use it for documenting the necessity for protection of important habitats;
  • obtaining protected status for rare or endangered invertebrate species.

Activities, results

  • we organized the 5th World Conference of the Hungarian Arachnologists with 35 participants;
  • we evaluated the arthropod (araneae and carabidae) populations of the Tinovul Mohos and we wrote several articles and thesis from the data;
  • we presented several shows to students in order to involve them in the research and conservation activities.

For the future

  • to continue research in the Tinovul Mohos and to edit a multimedia CD with the flora and fauna of this protected site;
  • to improve our database;to analyze materials collected in the previous years;
  • to discover new species for the science and for the Romanian fauna; ecological evaluation of some study areas, using bioindicator species;
  • to continue education and raising public awareness.
