In the middle of June has finished the ringing season of Golden Eagle chicks. During the breeding season we verified 13 pairs of eagles in the V and SV part of Romania. A total of 5 chicks were ringed, 4 of them with colored rings. The action was part of the project “Partnership for the Conservation of flagship raptors in the South Western Carpathians” financed by the Environmental Partnership Foundation from Miercurea Ciuc and by the Royal Netherlands Embassy from Romania.
Between 12-22 of June 2007, members of the Milvus Group’s Raptor Conservation Working Group ringed a number of 14 Long-legged Buzzard (Buteo rufinus) nestlings. The researcher team detected during the spring about 40 nests of this species, which were built on trees, cliffs and high voltage pylons. According to our knowledge, these are the first specimens of Long-legged Buzzards ringed in Romania.
